Free Distant Healing Reiki!

The Distant Healing Network is an excellent resource I learned about during my reiki certification which provides free reiki healing for yourself, loved ones, and even pets! It’s a website dedicated to providing everyone access to reiki healing via distant healing energy. As a volunteer reiki practitioner on this site, it helps to practice my distant healing skills while reaching people from all over the globe. To explain, distant healing means the reiki practitioner sends the reiki energy to the requestor without physically being present with one another. The reiki practitioner still goes through all typical motions as they would if the person were there in person. The requestor simply needs to be open to receiving this healing energy and they can access this energy at any time they wish (like reiki energy going into the cloud to be accessed at a later time).

Simply go to their website (below), fill out a short form (i.e., the name of the person who needs reiki and where they are physically located) and you will receive an email acknowledging receipt of your request. Shortly thereafter, you will get another email where your request will be assigned an experience reiki practitioner who will provide the requested person with continuous reiki healing for 7 days or more. You can make as many requests, over and over, as you like. When my father was ill, I would send reiki requests each time they expired and even send requests for my dog who had surgery. Every bit helps for those in need.

Benefits of Reiki to Treat Anxiety and Pain in Hospital Patients

I often like to review some research regarding the benefits of reiki therapy to common human ailments like stress, anger, anxiety, etc. In recent years, more and more hospitals are accepting and implementing volunteer reiki programs for their patients and staff. Some hospitals already perform a reiki-type practice called “Healing Hands,” which is essentially the same concept of using touch to heal. I have personally provided reiki to cancer patients and those in hospice and they respond well to the sessions and feel relaxed and comfortable. In no way am I claiming or believe that reiki will cure diseases or cancer, but it provides comforting psychological, spiritual, and, in some cases, physical relief. Below is a short article summary regarding a study conducted for cancer patients receiving reiki treatments.

The Effects of Reiki Therapy on Pain and Anxiety in Patients Attending
a Day Oncology and Infusion Services Unit.

American Journal of Hospice & Palliative Medicine. 2012 Jun; 294: 290-294.

BACKGROUND: Reiki is a system of natural healing techniques administered by laying of hands and transferring energy from the Reiki practitioner to the recipient. METHODS: We investigated the role of Reiki in the management of anxiety, pain and global wellness in cancer patients. Building on the results of a pilot project conducted between 2003 and 2005 by a volunteer association at our hospital, a wider, 3-year study was conducted at the same center.

The volunteer Reiki practitioners received 2 years of theory and practical training. The study population was 118 patients (67 women and 51 men; mean age, 55 years) with cancer at any stage and receiving any kind of chemotherapy. Before each session, the nurses collected the patient’s personal data and clinical history. Pain and anxiety were evaluated according to a numeric rating scale by the Reiki practitioners. Each session lasted about 30 min; pain and anxiety scores were recorded using a Visual Analog Scale (VAS), together with a description of the physical feelings the patients perceived during the session.

All 118 patients received at least 1 Reiki treatment (total number, 238). RESULTS: In the subgroup of 22 patients who underwent the full cycle of 4 treatments, the mean VAS anxiety score decreased from 6.77 to 2.28 (P

<.000001) and the mean VAS pain score from 4.4 to 2.32 (P = .091). Overall, the sessions were felt helpful in improving well-being, relaxation, pain relief, sleep quality and reducing
anxiety.
